Zumba is a fitness activity inspired by Latin dances, created in the 1990s by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez. It is a choreographed cardio workout that combines different dance styles such as salsa, merengue, reggaeton, flamenco, and even elements of hip-hop and African dance. A Zumba session takes place to rhythmic and upbeat music, with simple and repetitive movements that make the class accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness level.
