From 80,000 to 500,000 players in 4 years : How padel conquered France

Padel is the sport that has seen the greatest growth worldwide. But why is it attracting so many followers?

Because it offers an unprecedented sporting sociology:

  • It’s a social sport where the concept of “play” takes on its full meaning. You have fun quickly and with others: padel is only played in pairs, which involves lots of fast, fun exchanges and an ever-growing number of potential partners.
  • It’s an intergenerational sport: easy to practice, padel doesn’t leave anyone out. By not prioritizing power and technicality, it allows for a greater diversity of skill levels and ages, ranging from 7 to 77 years old, compared to other ball sports like tennis, squash, or badminton.
  • It’s a mixed sport: padel is attracting more and more female players because it allows families to play together, with or without children, and friends to bond. This is evident from the success of the “Pad’Elles” event organized on March 8, 2023, at the Forest Hill Club in Marnes-la-Coquette, where more than 100 female players signed up in less than 5 days, as well as the organization of the first-ever women’s event at the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major.
  • It’s accessible to everyone, regardless of profile: whether you’re a tactician, a fan of ball games, a seasoned athlete, or an amateur, this sport caters to a wide range of players.
